Individual counseling is provided when a client wants to focus on a specific issue and the issue is addressed for a limited amount of time. For example, learning how to develop skills to manage stress or anger. Sessions are short term where the time span is over weeks to several months to target specific symptoms and situations to resolve the issue.

Individual therapy is provided on a more long term basis (years) focusing on how an individual sees him/herself and their world, their thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and understanding their underlying patterns (attitudes, habits, fears) that contribute to their behaviors whether positive or negative. For example, if an individual is experiencing symptoms of high anxiety/panic attacks, the individual can explore how anxiety affects his/her everyday life and develop coping skills.

Family counseling aims to promote understanding and collaboration among family members in order to solve the problems of one or more individuals. It views the individual’s behaviors and how the thoughts, feelings and behaviors are impacted by the family unit or how the family unit is impacted by the individual. It can help individual family members build stronger relationships, improve communication, and manage conflicts within the family system.

 A form of therapy that is specifically designed to help individuals develop coping skills to manage their mental, intellectual and behavioral responses from past trauma experiences.  Therapists will use trauma focused evidence based models as well as a trauma informed care approach.

Refers to mental health counseling services offered online or over the phone. To use teletherapy, clients only need a phone, tablet, or computer.

Coordination of services to make the appropriate referrals needed and to discuss shared treatment planning and implementation.  Collaboration with providers to help with navigating the mental health system and  develop a shared and agreed-upon plan of care.
